PREQUALIFICATION OF CONTRACTORS

The Government of Barbados (GoB) through the Ministry of Home Affairs intends to construct a building to house the headquarters of the Barbados Fire Service, the relocated Bridgetown Fire Station and the headquarters for the Emergency Ambulance Service.  The Board of the National Insurance Scheme is the executing agency providing the funding for the project.  The Board is seeking to pre-qualify Construction Firms having the necessary resources and experience to construct the buildings and associated civil works required.

The invitation is open to all firms with proven experience and the financial strength to undertake the project within the stated parameters.

All Corporate Applicants must include with their Pre-qualification Questionnaire a copy of the Company’s Certificate of Incorporation as evidence of the fact that the Company is an existing registered Company as of the date of the submission.  The Certificate must be in the name of the Applicant.  Failure to provide this certificate will render the applicant ineligible for qualification.

Applicants incorporated in Barbados, are advised that the Certificate of Incorporation referred to at the paragraph above means a Certificate of Incorporation issued under the 1985 Companies Act of Barbados, or where applicable, a Certificate of Continuance and/or a Certificate of Amalgamation, or a Certificate of Amendment.  Certificates must be dated after December 1984.

Only firms incorporated in Barbados under the Companies Act of Barbados will be eligible to submit tender.

Applications will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Technical competence of the Company
  • Qualification and Experience of Staff
  • Financial capability
  • Prior experience on similar projects

A short-list of not less than three and no more than six firms will be invited to submit tenders. The Tender Documents will be made available to the short-listed firms only. All firms will be advised of the results of the pre-qualification.

Pre-qualification Questionnaires and further information are available from the address below:
