NIS Board Increases Benefits

Please note that effective January 1st 2009, the maximum insurable earnings will be increased.

(a) in the case of workers paid on a monthly basis, $3 720; (b) in the case of workers paid on a weekly basis, $858;

With effect from January 1st 2009, the funeral grant (including EI funeral grant) and maternity grant will be increased to $1 650 and $950 respectively.

With effect from January 5th 2009, the minimum old age contributory and invalidity pensions will be increased to $148 per week.

With effect from January 5th, 2009, the non-contributory old age pension will be increased to $121 per week.
