    Employment Injury


The NIS provides several benefits for insured persons for injuries caused as a result of work.

Injury Benefit
A weekly benefit is paid if you are incapable of working because of an employment accident or a disease.

Disablement Benefit
This is paid to you if, at the end of the period for which injury benefit is paid, you are suffering from a loss of physical or mental faculty.

Medical Expenses
These are the costs, such as medicines and travelling, that you incur while being treated for your employment injury or disease.

Funeral Grant
A payment of $1,890 to assist with funeral expenses if a worker dies because of an accident at work or from a prescribed disease. For more information, visit the Funeral Grant page.

Death Benefit
This is a weekly payment made to a surviving spouse, children and others who were dependent for support on the insured person when he/she died.
