Benefits - Employment Injury
The NIS provides several benefits to insured persons for injuries caused as a result of work.
If you are incapable of working due to an employment accident or disease, we pay you a weekly benefit.
If you are suffering from a loss of physical or mental faculty after the period covered by the injury benefit, you will be paid a disablement benefit.
We reimburse you a percentage of the costs you incur while being treated for your employment injury or disease. These costs include medicine and travel.
Should death result from an accident or diagnosed disease suffered as a result of the job, a payment of $2,120 is made to the person who has met the cost of the funeral of the insured person to assist with funeral expenses. For more information, visit the Funeral Grant page.
This weekly payment is made to a surviving spouse, children and others who were dependent for support on the insured person when he/she died.
